## TL;DR
SwipeClean is built to run on your device. Your photos, videos, contacts, and calendar events are analyzed and cleaned **entirely on your iPhone or iPad** — they are never uploaded to us or to any third party.
The only information that leaves your device is what's needed to manage optional purchases: when you buy or restore **SwipeClean Pro**, anonymized purchase and subscription details are processed by **Apple** and our payments provider **RevenueCat**. We never see your photos, contacts, or calendar.

## Content You Clean Stays On Your Device
SwipeClean helps you clean up several types of content. In every case, the content itself is read and processed **locally on your device** and is **never transmitted to us or any third party**:
- **Photos & Videos** — displayed in the app, analyzed for duplicates, similar shots, screenshots, and large files, and deleted only when you choose.
- **Contacts** — scanned to find duplicate or incomplete entries you choose to merge or clean.
- **Calendar Events** — scanned to find old or duplicate events you choose to remove.
All duplicate detection, similarity scoring, "best shot" analysis, and storage calculations happen on-device. No content ever leaves your phone during these operations.

## Permissions We Request
SwipeClean only requests a permission when you use the feature that needs it, and each is optional:
- **Photo Library** — to display, analyze, and delete photos and videos you select.
- **Contacts** — to find and clean duplicate or incomplete contacts.
- **Calendars** — to find and remove old or duplicate events.
- **Notifications** — to send optional local reminders to clean up your storage. These reminders are scheduled on your device; no reminder content is sent to a server.
You can grant, limit, or revoke any of these at any time in **iOS Settings → Privacy & Security**.

## Data Stored Locally On Your Device
The following is stored **only on your device** using standard iOS storage (UserDefaults and the app's local file storage):
- **User Preferences** — such as theme selection and feature settings.
- **Onboarding Status** — whether you've completed the initial tutorial.
- **Temporary Trash Bin** — items you've marked for deletion, until you empty the trash.
- **Session Statistics** — local counters for space saved and items cleaned.
- **Contact Backups** — when you clean contacts, SwipeClean can save a local vCard (.vcf) backup on your device so you can restore them. These backups stay on your device and are never uploaded.
None of this data leaves your device.

## Email Cleanup
The Email Cleanup feature does **not** connect to, log in to, or read your email. It simply helps you build a search query (for example, "large attachments") that you can copy and paste into your own mail app. SwipeClean never accesses your inbox, messages, or email account credentials.

## Purchases & SwipeClean Pro
SwipeClean offers an optional premium upgrade, **SwipeClean Pro**, sold through Apple's in-app purchase system. To offer, validate, and restore purchases, the app uses:
- **Apple (StoreKit / App Store)** — Apple processes your payment and manages your subscription in accordance with [Apple's Privacy Policy](<https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/>). We never receive your payment card details.
- **RevenueCat** — our subscription management provider. RevenueCat receives an **anonymous app user identifier** along with purchase and subscription transaction details in order to unlock Pro features, sync your entitlement across your devices, and let you restore purchases. This purchase information is the only data that leaves your device, and it is used solely to provide and restore paid features.

## Diagnostics
To keep the app stable, SwipeClean uses Apple's **MetricKit** to receive aggregated performance and crash metrics from the operating system, and records lightweight on-device operational logs. These diagnostics contain **only feature names and numeric counts** — never your photos, contacts, calendar entries, or personal identifiers. Aggregated MetricKit reports are handled by Apple; we do not operate our own analytics servers.

## Analytics & Advertising
**SwipeClean does not use third-party advertising, ad networks, or behavioral tracking, and does not sell your data.** We do not use Google Analytics, advertising SDKs, or cross-app tracking. We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
The only third-party SDK that processes data is **RevenueCat**, used exclusively for subscription management as described above.

## Children's Privacy
SwipeClean is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app's cleanup features operate on-device, and the only off-device data (purchase information) is handled by Apple's age-gated purchase system.

## Your Rights & Control
You maintain complete control over your data:
- **Content** — you decide what photos, contacts, and events to clean, and nothing is deleted without your confirmation. You can review items in the Trash Bin before permanent deletion.
- **Permissions** — grant or revoke Photos, Contacts, Calendars, and Notifications access anytime in iOS Settings.
- **Purchase data** — you may request access to or deletion of the data associated with your anonymous RevenueCat identifier by contacting us; note that Apple retains transaction records as required for its services.
Depending on where you live (e.g., the EU under GDPR, or California under CCPA/CPRA), you may have additional rights to access, correct, or delete personal data. Because we hold no content and only anonymized purchase data, most requests are satisfied by these controls. Contact us for anything further.

## Data Security
Your information is protected by:
- Content processing that stays **local to your device** and is never transmitted to us.
